The Journey Begins

The hardest part is getting started. This statement is so true for so many things in life and it is no different for clients getting started with therapy. There are a lot of mixed feelings…anxiety, frustration and fear mainly because of the unknown. When starting your therapy journey there are a few things you should remember. First, therapy is a team approach. You should feel comfortable with your therapist. By all means, you both will be spending a lot of time with each other. Speak up because what you have to say is important. Second, therapy should be individualized. It is not a one size fit all plan. The treatment should be specific to you and your goals. Finally, it takes time. Be patient with yourself and celebrate your success along the way.
